Among tribes that have no fixed places of residence,the abandoning of old people, too feeble to travel, is usual.This is the only suggestion of protest that I have encountered; the plaint of the aged of all lands that death should ensue just when wisdom is attained. Miss Dinsmore records a similar woman song among the Pima.

定住の地を持たない部族たちのあいだでは、年老いて旅に耐えられなくなった者を見捨てて行くことはよくありました。この詩は、わたしが出会ったこのような事実（知恵や見識がピークに達したその時に死がやってくる、という老人たちの嘆き悲しみ）への異議の表明でもあります。ディンスモアさん（女性）も、似たような女の嘆き歌をピマ族（アリゾナ州南部、メキシコ北部在住）から採集、記録しています。
