Coconut Palm in Rain
The needles of rain
tickle the coconut palm.
Green,
with ivory ribs,
the palm leaves dance.
Sea
Sea.
Green and
turgid.
Sky.
Falling into the sea.
The fish
are watching.
Happiness
Is happiness
in the way,
in the manner,
or in what you get?
Ramanujan and Hardy
Ramanujan,
the puzzling Indian mathematician-wizard.
And Hardy,
the proper English man of learning.
The combination
is neither man,
nor English,
nor Indian.
It is quintessential mathematics.
The Woman in hiding
Is she hiding or
is she transparent?
Why should woman
be the person
who is supposed
to be always hiding
and
or transparent?
Green in hiding
Of all the colours
green is the most
submissive, but
also the most forceful,
giving life
to a lifeless brown.
Where can people and places,
death and life,
brown and green,
come together:
unless in a painting?
