アムステルダム出身、カリフォルニア在住のフォトグラファー、映像作家。ワールドクラスのスノーボーダーたちをドキュメントした「Transitions and Exits」（2000年、POWERHOUSE BOOKS）や自分の家族とその周辺をテーマにした「Even the President of the United States Sometimes Has Got to Stand Naked」（2006年、Jrp/Ringier。PS1/MOMAでの個展と連動して出版）などの写真集で知られる。ホイットニー・ビエンナーレ2002（ホイットニー美術館／ニューヨーク）、クンストハーレ（ベルン）、The Photographer's Gallery（ロンドン）、メルコスール・ビエンナーレ（ポルト・アレグレ／ブラジル）、Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art（サンフランシスコ）、Someday Gallery（メルボルン）、クンストハウス（チューリッヒ）など世界各地で写真展を開き、日本でもNo.12 Gallery（東京、2004年）で個展を開催している。スノーボードブランド "BURTON" の広告写真、スケートボードブランド "SUPRIME" のTシャツや壁面写真を手がける一方、インディペンデントなZINEや少部数のアートブック出版にも意欲的に参加して、世界各地のストリート系、アート系の若い読者層からの人気も高い。

Photographer and filmmaker, born in Amsterdam and now living in California. Examples of his works include, "Transitions and Exits" (published in 2000, by POWERHOUSE BOOKS), which documents world class snowboarders, and "Even the President of the United States Sometimes Has Got to Stand Naked" (published in 2006, by Jrp/Ringier), published in conjunction with an exhibition at PS1/MOMA, whose theme is his family and its fringes.  His work has been exhibited around the world, including The 2002 Whitney Biennial at The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Kunsthalle, Bern, The Photographer's Gallery in London, Porto Mercosul Biennial, Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, Someday Gallery, Melbourne, Kunsthaus, Zurich, and No.12 Gallery, Tokyo in 2004. He has done advertising work for "BURTON", a snowboard brand and designed t-shirts and murals for "SUPREME", a skateboard brand.  On the other hand he has also joined small budget projects, and worked together with independent publishers to create several small art books and zines. He is popular among young artistic and surf-and-skate crowds.
