スシュマ・ジョシはネパールの作家、映像作家。1973年、ネパール、カトマンドゥに生まれる。19歳のときアメリカに渡り、ブラウン大学で文学士を取得（1996年）。その後ニューヨークのニュースクール・オブ・ソシアルリサーチで人類学の修士号（2002年）を、さらにヴァーモントのミドルバリー・カレッジ、ブレッドローフ・スクール・オブ・イングリッシュで英文学の修士号（2005年）を取得。短編集「End of the World」は2009年のフラナリー・オコナー短編小説賞の最終候補作品に上げられた。ジョシの短編やエッセイは様々な雑誌に掲載され、イタリア語、スペイン語、ベトナム語にも訳されている。
About the author
Sushma Joshi is a Nepali writer and filmmaker. She was born in 1973 in Kathmandu, Nepal. She went to the USA at 19, and received a BA from Brown University. She has an MA in anthropology from The New School for Social Research, New York; and an MA in English Literature from the Breadloaf School of English, Vermont. "End of the World," her book of short stories, was long-listed for the Frank O' Connor International Short Story Award in 2009. Her writings appear in many kinds of magazines and has been translated into Italian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
