At the entrance of a book store which has only books related to the Jewish religious literature (the Torah and the Talmud) on Mea She'arim Street in Jerusalem.
The metaphor of the Torah are fire and water in Judaism. Fire as truth, life, the light in the darkness, and the words of God. You can see the light coming out from the entrance of the store on the photo as fire coming out from the opened book of the Torah. I got the same comment about the light on the photo from a Chassidic friend of mine in New York.
メア　シェアリム通りの旧約聖書（トーラ）関係専門の本屋さんの入り口。
ユダヤ教ではトーラは火と水にたとえられ、火は Truth, Life, The light in the darkness, the words of God　を象徴します。写真の光りが火のようにも見え、まさにトーラの火といった感じがします。ＮＹのハシディックの友人に送ったら同じコメントが届きました。

    I made a trip to Mea She'arim (it means a hundred gates in Hebrew), a Chasidic part of town here in Jerusalem. As I had thought before I set out to go, a few of the residents became upset a little when they saw me with a camera in hand. The main reasons being : They are not animals in a zoo to be looked upon with distance and curiosity. Their perception of the Jewish religion forbids making images of God in the form of man (and other creatures). And a general disdain for the implements of modernity and artifice, contrasting with the very basic life they live. So to make a difficult task a bit simpler, I attempted to make my use of the camera not so obvious when taking pictures on the streets of Mea She'arim. One more interesting thing about the people of Mea She'arim is the pace at which they walk. It is extremely fast ! It has nothing to do with age or gender, most of them walk like super people, or the busy rabbit running around in 'Alice in Wonderland' ! They pass so quickly but they almost never run ! It seems as if you are watching a double speed old monochrome film. The scenery of the town is as if you went to several European Jewish towns of the middle ages, flung them together and placed them on a small broken boat trying to stay afloat in this middle-eastern desert.

    先日、メア　シェアリム（ヘブライ語で１００の門という意味）というハシディックの町に行ってきました。
    予想通り! 住人に何度か怒られたので（理由には見世物ではないとう事と、宗教上で神のイメージを作る事を禁止しているので、写真や絵などを撮る事、撮られる事、飾る事に反感がある。現代的なものに反感がある。などなど他色々）、できるだけカメラを構えないようにして撮ったのでちょっと大変でした。それから、なぜだかよく理由はわからないのですが、ハシディックの人達は老若男女問わず、とりあえず歩くのが超人的に速い！！！ほんっとに速いんですよ。みんな不思議の国のアリスに出てくるウサギのように忙しそうで、ものずごい早足で通り過ぎていきます。でも 決して走らない。モノクロの古い映画の早送りを見ているよう。その町並みはタイムマシンで中世の色々なヨーロッパの町のユダヤ教徒地区に行ったかのようにかき集めたようにごちゃごちゃと入り交ざっています。

    ●●ハシディック、ハシディズムとは
    ハシディズムという派は超正統派ユダヤ教の中の一つの派で、仏教で言えば禅宗の中にもいろいろな派があるような事だと思います。ハシディズム（ヘブライ語でハシドゥッツ）という言葉は、よき行いを神の名において行う、などの色々な意味を含むヘブライ語のヘセッドから来ています。その人達のことをハシディックと呼びます。例えば：He is a Chassid, he is a Chassidic man, they are Chassidic, he learns Chassidism　というふうに使います。
